Police have arrested three suspects in connection to the rape of a 14-year-old girl at a guest house in Damak, Jhapa, on August 14.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Shyamal Kumar Subba of the Area Police Office, Damak, told the Post on Monday that Suman Rai, Samir Shrestha and Kiran Shrestha were arrested on August 20, as per the complaint registered by the girl.
Suman and Samir, both residents of Damak, were friends with the girl, while Kiran, who comes from Kamala Municipality in the district, was the guest house employee, according to police.
On the day of the incident, DSP Subba said the girl had agreed to go on a day-long motorcycle road trip with Suman and Samir.
They visited Urlabari, Betini Simsar and Madhumalla of neighbouring Morang district before returning to the guest house in the evening.
Kiran was waiting for the trio at the guest house where the crime occurred that night, DSP Subba said.
The incident was revealed only after the girl filed a police complaint on August 20.
The girl had been allegedly threatened by the suspects to keep the incident a secret, DSP Subba said.
The girl is currently taking shelter at Maiti Nepal in Kakarbhitta.
