Four days after Nepal Communist Party (NCP) C0-chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal hinted at the possibility of Cabinet reshuffle, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Saturday clarified that there will not be any changes in his government anytime soon.

“The ministers are working well. There is no need to change any one of them,” Prime Minister Oli  said while addressing the national conference of Federation of District Coordination Committees in Kathmandu.

He also claimed that the talks about Cabinet reshuffle were spread by those who wished to destabilise the

The prime minister’s statement contradicts that of Dahal’s.

Earlier on Tuesday, Dahal had told reporters that he and Prime Minister Oli were in discussion to take serious steps, including reshuffling the Cabinet, to address the increasing public frustration over the performance of the incumbent government.

Prime Minister Oli, meanwhile, has urged his ministers not to be deterred by criticisms against the government.

Finance Minister Yubaraj Khatiwada, Law Minister Bhanubhakta Dhakal, Federal Affairs and General Administration Minister Lalbabu Pandit, and Minister for Social Welfare and Senior Citizens Tham Maya Thapa were among those present at the programme.

Oli also claimed that both the NCP and the government have become stronger under his leadership, much to the frustration of his detractors.

“Some people are unhappy with the working style of the government that has been mending ties and working in cooperation with the neighbours. But they should know that the government has been moving ahead towards development and prosperity with a clear vision and far-sightedness,” he said.
