Four swimmers picked for worlds

The quartet of the swimmers was rewarded spots in the 25m short course event following the number of FINA points they earned at the Satdobato Swimming Complex. Shrestha, who claimed two golds in the Open category earned 521 points, while Subba had 465 points after earning treble gold.
Syed Hamza Shah and Upasthiti Maharjan was named as the reserve players for the December 11-16 worlds in Hangzhou, China.
In the women’s category, Shakya collected 510 points and Lama accumulated 464 points. Lama earned a total of five gold in Open category.
On Monday, Shakya was the biggest winner claiming double gold to add to two more she won in the age group category. Shakya won the women’s 100m freestyle timing 1:03.72 minutes and got the better of Lama (1:06.07) and Sameera Shova Thapa (1:08.62).
Shakya then won the 50m freestyle in 29.21 seconds. Lama (30.75) and Thapa (31.13) were once again pushed to silver and bronze respectively. Shakya also won the U-17 50m freestyle and 50m breaststroke titles.
Lama claimed the women’s 100m breaststroke clocking 1:20.80 minutes leaving behind Shakya (1:22.37) and Maharjan (1:23.88). Subba’s double gold came in men’s 50m butterfly and 50m freestyle. He clocked 28.18 seconds in 50m fly to beat Shah (28.84) and Devesh Manandhar (39.25).
His 50m free gold came in 27.16 seconds where he beat Shrestha (27.32) and Manandhar (27.38). Shrestha’s only open category gold was in 100m breaststroke as he clocked 1:09.67 minutes to finish ahead of Shah (1:14.19) and Bedagya Raj Joshi (1:15.20).
Ayushma Tuladhar also claimed double gold on Monday winning the 50m butterfly stroke in 33.25. She finished ahead of Lama (33.75) and Thapa (38.39). She then won the 50m backstroke clocking 37.58 to overcome Thapa (38.00) and Anushiya Tandukar (40.25. Other open winners of the day included Dilip Thapa Magar (100m freestyle and Tenzing N Ryan Gurung (50m backstroke).
Meanwhile, Nisarga School won the team championship trophy with a total of 80 points. Second-placed Lincoln School collected 49 points and Rajashri Gurukul finished third with 37 points.
