Karnali will be developed into a green province: CM

Chief Minister of Karnali Province Mahendra Bahadur Shahi has said that the Karnali Province is planning to become the green province.
The province government has allocated Rs 240 million for the development of state-of-the-art nurseries to materialise the dream, Chief Minister Shahi said on Sunday while inaugurating the first convention of Federation of Community Forestry Users Nepal (FECOFUN), Karnali Province. Saying that forest and greenery are indispensable for survival of humans and animals, Shahi urged everyone to always consider the inseparable relations between nature and life.
He also announced to give emphasis on farming of herbs to develop forests with the most expensive woods in Karnali and appealed to the FECOFUN to closely work with the province government.
He shared that the province government would give Rs 100 per plant and give the plants’ ownership to the locals.
Internal Affairs and Law Minister Naresh Bhandari said that human existence was also at risk due to extinction of animals’ habitats.
Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment Nandasingh Budha praised the community forest users in forest conservation.
In Karnali, 34.98 per cent of total land is covered with the forest area while there are 3,447 community forestry users committees in the entire Karnali Province.
