Investigation into the murder of former Nepali Ambassador to France Keshav Jha has hit the wall.Investigation into the murder of former Nepali Ambassador to France Keshav Jha has hit the wall.
The three suspects arrested in connection to the case were freed on Friday after posting a bail amount of Rs 8,000 each. Now, police have no lead in the case.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dhiraj Pratap Singh said the three suspects, Sanu Kanchha Tamang, Aita Singh Tamang and Jay Bahadur Gurung, were released based on their statements and polygraph test results.
Their innocence means police will now have to begin investigation all over again.
“With the only three suspects in the crime cleared of the charge, we are approaching the case from a different angle. We are doing our best to solve the case,” SSP Singh said. Jha was found dead of multiple stab wounds in his bedroom at his residence in Babarmahal, Kathmandu, on August 20 morning.
Police had arrested Sanu Kanchha, Aita Singh and Jay Bahadur, all of whom worked for the Jha family, as suspects in the crime.
All three men insisted their innocence from the beginning, and they were vinidicated.
The Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Crime Division had carried out their polygraph test on August 22.
“The results of their polygraph tests showed that they were telling the truth,” SSP Singh said.
Jha’s bedroom was locked from the inside on the day he was found dead.
After he did not respond to his wife’s repeated knock on the door, the three workers had broken into his bedroom.
A police team from the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Range, Singha Durbar, was the first to reach Jha’s residence. There, they found that one of the window screens of Jha’s bedroom had been cut open. Police are not sure if Jha’s murderer/s had crawled into the bedroom by cutting the metal window screen.
