Won’t let people down: PM Oli
Sep 23, 2018-
Prime Minister and Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that the ruling coalition would not let people’s trust and confidence in the government waver.
Addressing a programme at the NCP headquarters in Dhumbarahi to commemorate the fourth memorial day of the late leader Sahana Pradhan on Saturday, Oli said the government has a clear vision, policy and programme of the country’s prosperity. He added that this vision was based on the people’s trust and a strong party organisation.
“There are people who are whining to weaken the people’s trust in government. We’re committed to fulfilling the lofty promises of our predecessors,” the NCP chair said.
Stating that nobody should panic when the communists unite, PM Oli said the government was ready to work with the opposition Nepali Congress. He said that time had come for all citizens to fulfill the responsibility of prosperity by working like bees without getting entangled with minor issues since the phase of political change had been over.
Another chair of the party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal said it was a courageous act of the late leader Pradhan to remain steadfast in her commitment to socialism and prosperity even amidst political, social and family adversities.
He said that the unity of the communists had facilitated the nation’s journey to prosperity and socialism.
NCP leader Jhala Nath Khanal recalled that the late leader Pradhan had played an inspiring role during the Constituent Assembly election and the drafting of the democratic constitution, saying that she occupied an important place in the movement against the Rana autocracy and the Panchayat rule.
Another NCP leader Bamdev Gautam said that leaders from Pushpa Lal to Sahana had played a historic role in spreading the communist ideology in Nepal in an organised manner.
Pradhan chaired the Left Front during the 1990 people’s movement. NCP youth leader Ram Kumari Jhankri leads the newly formed Sahana Pradhan Memorial Foundation.
