Saptari police are investigating into a fake citizenship racket after three Indian nationals were caught with fake citizenship documents.
Mantu Kumar Sah, Ramrik Rajak and Rabi Rauniyar of India were arrested with fake citizenship documents recently.
Police said they have also arrested one Surendra Prasad Sah of Chhinamasta-4 based on the trio’s statement.
Police Inspector Hemanta Bhandari Chhetri said Rauniyar, one of the three Indian men, had allegedly paid Rs 60,000 to Sah for a Nepali citizenship.
Police also recovered some blank citizenship certificates from Sah.
According to Inspector Chhetri, Sah had stolen the blank citizenship certificates while working for a village development office.
Chief District Officer Surendra Paudel said he has instructed the district police to get to the bottom of the bottom of the incident and arrest those involved in the racket.
Dozens of Indian nationals have been caught with fake Nepali citizenship certificates in Saptari in the past.
