Speaking at the last meeting of Parliament budget session on Thursday, he said the performance of the government, led by KP Sharma Oli, was facing criticisms across the country.
“The government will get public support only if it performs well by developing the habit of discussions and hearing the suggestions of others,” he said.
“The people are criticising the government everywhere.” Nepal urged the government to listen to the grievances of the people.
He also drew the attention of the government to summarise its achievements from budget formulation
till today.
“Come to the next session of Parliament by holding your head high,” he suggested the NCP leaders who are in the government.
Nepal was also critical of the lackadaisical and careless approach of police and the government while investigating the rape and murder case of 13-year-old Nirmala Pant.
“People want to see the guilty behind bars. Our head will be high once we arrest the people who raped and murdered Nirmala Pant rape and murder case,” he said.
The NCP leader also chastised the government for honouring corrupt individuals with national awards.
“Those who are involved in corruption, who delays government contracts and have been blacklisted are being awarded. How are such people getting new contracts and positions?” he said.
Noting that the government has failed to curb rank corruption in government offices, Nepal asked the government leadership to work towards building a corruption-free administration, one that is accountable to the people.
“People want results. They want security and the government should be sensitive about this issue. The government should be able to resolve the day-to-day problems faced by the citizens,” he said.
