Talking to journalists at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu upon his arrival from New York on Thursday, PM Oli said the government was on the right track—doing good works—and would complete its full term.
“The government is trying its best. I want to tell friends who served long time in government that my government is doing well on the international front and relations with India and China are improving.”
PM Oli left for the United States on September 22, leading the Nepali delegation to the United Nations General Assembly. Oli held meetings with US President Donald Trump, British Prime Minister Theresa May, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, among other world leaders, on the margins of the UN gathering.
“When we decided to merge the two parties, many had questioned and when we decided to unite the parties, many suspected that such an alliance won’t last,” Oli said. “’To those questioning that party unity has not reached down to the grassroots level, we’ll show the results within a couple of days.”
Asked about the dispute within the party, Oli said there was no need to hype the dissatisfaction of individual leaders. On senior leader Madhav Nepal’s criticism of the party leadership and the government, Oli said: “I have friendship with Madhavji since 2029 BS so I urge all to believe that nothing [wrong] will happen.” (PR)
