Karki, Malla bag winner trophies

Pavitra Kumar Karki claimed the nett title of the Carlsberg Golf Series at the Gokarna Golf Club on Saturday.

On the final day, Karki scored 39 points to bag the trophy with a total of 300 points. Prithvi Malla was the gross champion after accumulating a total of 490 points. On the final day, Malla scored 37 points. In a tournament that was played under Stableford format with ¾ handicap, Navraj Thapa won the runner-up prize in the nett section with 37 counts on countback. Ujin Shim scored 36 points to win the ladies event, while Malla also bagged the most birdies award with five to his name.

Lt Gen KNS Thapa was the senior category winner with 34 points and Dr Niranjan Sharma was closest to the pin when he hit five feet from the hole. Likewise, Ct Norbu Sherpa hit the longest drive — 325 yards out. The three-series tournament saw the participation country’s top amateur golfers.
