Four rapes in a week

Four incidents of rape were reported in different parts of the country this week.

A 16-year-old girl was raped by four men in a forest in Butwal, Rupandehi, on Tuesday night. Police have arrested Udaya Thapa, 35, of Devdaha Municipality-10 and Krishna Thapa, 26, of Butwal Sub-metropolis-7 for their alleged involvement in the crime. Two other suspects are still at large.

In another incident, a 13-year-old school girl was raped by two men in Pathari Shanishchare, Morang.

The girl was accompanying her friend to a temple when the perpetrators snatched her, took her to a nearby forest and took turns raping her, police said.

Manoj Rai, 22, and Raj Kumar Majhi, 23, have been arrested in connection to the incident. Police have also arrested the girl’s friend for questioning.

In Sunsari, police have arrested a man who allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl on Sunday. Pramod Chaudhary of Gadhi Rural Municipality-8 is accused of raping the minor at a hotel in Itahari-9 on Sunday.

Similarly, a 30-year-old woman was raped in Rukum West on Monday night.

The suspect, Subindra Gharti Magar, 30, of Puthauttarganga Rural Municipality-5 in Rukum East, was presented before the media on Thursday.
