Lamichhane is the marquee player of Titans who are yet to confirm him as skipper of the franchise. Experienced Vesawkar, meanwhile, is almost certain to win the captaincy for the Paltan. The city-based franchise Twenty20 cricket tournament begins from October 26 in Pokhara. The opening day will have only one match.
The tournament day will be followed by a double header where Chitwan Rhinos will take on Butwal Blasters before Kathmandu Royals tackle Dhangadhi Blues in the day’s second game. National team skipper Paras Khadka is leading the Rhinos and fast bowling spearhead Sompal Kami is the captain of the Blasters’ side.
National team vice-captain Gyanendra Malla will be looking after the Royals and Blues have Dipendra Singh Airee as its marquee player. In a different format of the tournament, the side finishing at the top of the table will directly enter the final. The second and third placed team will clash in the only Eliminator to vie for the final berth.
The Eliminator is scheduled for November 4 and the final will be held on November 6. According to the fixtures released by organisers Queen’s Event Management Pvt Ltd, the tournament will have two rest days. While the best players of the tournament – man-of-the-series, best bowler and batsman – will get a motorcycle each, the cash purse for the champions is yet to be revealed.
Meanwhile, Queen’s have roped in Grande International Hospital as PPL’s official medical partner. According to the agreement, Grande will provide PPL with required medical assistance including doctors, physiotherapists and emergency medical aid during match days.
Queen’s Managing Director Chhumbi Lama and Grande Director Dr Chakra Raj Pandey signed the memorandum of understanding during a programme in the hospital.
