Child murder suspect held near Nepal-India border

Bharat Sah of Bhangaha Sitapur Rural Municipality-9, Mahottari, was apprehended on Saturday.
The infant girl was found murdered after abduction at Aurahi Municipality in Mahottari.
Bharat was transported to the District Police Office, Mahottari, on Sunday for investigation, said Sub-Inspector Awadhlal Sah Sonar of Bhantabari Border Police Post.
“We found Bharat in inebriated condition near the border on Saturday. We became suspicious of him when we found three Indian SIM cards with him. It was during questioning that we learned that he was in fact the same man that police in Mahottari was after on suspicion of abducting and murdering a baby,” said Sub Inspector Sonar.
Mahottari police had launched a manhunt for Bharat after he was seen cradling Sonalika in his arms in a CCTV footage obtained from the shop owned by her father Santosh.
Sonalika’s family has demanded strong action against Bharat.
Superintendent of Police Ishwor Karki at the District Police Office, Mahottari, said Bharat was being questioned for his alleged involvement in the incident.
