Province 2 clinched the third U-19 National Itahari Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament title defeating hosts Itahari Cricket Academy by 119 runs in the final on Monday.
Electing to bat first, Province 2 scored 201-5 in the 20 overs before restricting Itahari for 82 runs in 16.2 overs. Sonu Anshari top scored for Province 2 with 60 runs while Rabi Shah slammed 59. Amit Yada (28), Bikash Das (19), Bivek Yadav (13) and Tritha Raj Das (10) also chipped in with valuable runs to the total. Bikalpa Acharya took two wickets while Nishan Mahat, Bhupal Luitel and Raj Thapa claimed one wicket each for Itahari.
In reply, Itahari never gave up the figth with Subash Yadav contributing the top score of 32 and Gautam Sharma chipping in with 17 runs. Man-of-the-match Nikhil Singh was pick of the Province 2 bowlers with four wickets while Gomananda Yadav and Adil Khan snared two wickets apiece.
The champions were rewarded with Rs 111,000 while the runners-up Itahari walked away with Rs 55,000. Rabi Shah of Province 2 was declared the player-of-the-series and won Rs 10,000. His teammate Biskas Das won the best bowler award while Gautam Sharme was the best batsman accolade. Both the players earned Rs 5,000 each.
