Five held over the ‘rape and murder’ of girl, 12

Police on Monday arrested five persons for their alleged involvement in the rape and murder of a 12-year-old girl in Rautamai Rural Municipality-3 of Udayapur district.
Anjila Khadka of Amala was found dead in a local forest around 700 metres from her house on Sunday. The minor had gone to the forest to look after her cattle on Saturday. Preliminary police investigation showed that the girl was raped and murdered.
According to Superintendent of Police Chandra Dev Rai, police have arrested five suspects with an aid of a sniffer dog. The body was taken to the district headquarters Gaighat for postmortem, he added.
“Details on the incident will be known only after the postmortem report comes out,” said Rai, adding that the detainees’ statements might also shed some light into the incident.
3 women raped
JUMLA: Three women were raped in separate incidents in Jumla on November 4. According to the District Police Office, two women were gang-raped at Bhainchaur forest in Tila Rural Municipality while another woman was raped at Patarasi Rural Municipality-2 the same day. Police said search is on to arrest the culprits involved in the gang-rape case while a 45-year-old man was held in connection with the rape incident of Patarasi-2.
