Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali has asked for Japan’s assistance and investment in Nepal’s priority sectors.
In a meeting with Japan’s Foreign Minister Taro Kono on Monday, Gyawali requested his counterpart for Japan’s investment, knowledge and technology in agriculture, energy and infrastructure sectors.
The foreign minister also urged the Japan government to facilitate the operation of direct flight service of Nepal Airlines between the two countries to make the Visit Nepal Year 2020 successful.
Japanese Foreign Minister Kono assured to continue Japan’s assistance to Nepal.
The two leaders also witnessed the signing of Exchange of Notes for grant assistance of 350 million Yen to Nepal’s food assistance programme.
Earlier in the day, Gyawali met with Japan’s Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Takamori Yoshikawa and thanked him for Japan’s assistance in Nepal’s agricultural sector and requested for further support and cooperation to modernise Nepal’s agriculture sector.
Gyawali also held a meeting with Toshihiro Nikai, the president of Nepal-Japan Parliamentary Friendship League, and Secretary General of Liberal Democratic Party.
