The Surya Nepal Kathmandu Open, second event on the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2018-19, tees off at the Royal Nepal Golf Club (RNGC) on Tuesday.
In all 33 professional and eight amateur golfers will take part in the 72-hole tournament that concludes on Friday. Cut will be applied after 36 holes with top 21 pros and ties (if any) along with top six amateurs making it to the final two rounds. The tournament offers Rs 551,250 in total prize money with the champion assured of Rs 95,000. The first and second runners-up will also earn Rs 65,000 and Rs 55,000 respectively. All the pros to make the cut for the final two rounds will also receive their share of cash rewards.
Top ranked pro Shiva Ram Shrestha will face a tough battle for title with the likes of Bhuwan Nagarkoti, Sanjay Lama, Jayram Shrestha, and Ram Thapa. Sukra Bahadur Rai, Tanka Bahadur Karki, Subash Tamang and Binod Tamang will be among the top contenders for the amateur title. Nepal Professional Golfers Association and RNGC President Rabindra Man Shrestha said: “I am looking forward to good scores from more players in this tournament. The playing standard in the last few years have been tremendous.
