Nabil Bank and Surya Nepal entered the pre-quarterfinals of the Century Bank Corporate Super Sixes at the Tribhuvan University Stadium on Monday.
In Group ‘A’, Nabil and Surya defeated Om Development Bank to make it through with one match in hand. Surya Nepal beat Om by eight runs. A 17-ball 35 not out from Bikash Sharma propelled Surya Nepal to 72-2. Om in reply made 64-2. Binaya Bhandari scored 31 for losers.
Nabil crushed Om by 44 runs. Nabil amassed 108-3 with eight-ball 36 not out from Binod Dahal and nine-ball 35 not out from Amit Pokhrel. Bhandari was once again the leading scorer for Om making an 11-ball 34 not out but his side could only muster 62-3.
From Group ‘D’, Annapurna Media and Subishu advanced to the last 16 with Esewa at the receiving end. Esewa could only manage 51-2 before Subishu replied with 57 without loss in 3.1 overs. Rojans Pradhan scored 13-ball 34 not out for Subishu.
Annapurna later eased to a 35-run win over Esewa. Basanta Khatri scored 35 not out and Bibhu Shrestha 33 not out guiding Annapurna to 78-1. Esewa replied with 43-2.
Also advancing to the pre-quarterfinals was Sipradi Trading which registered victories in both Group ‘E’ matches. It edged Kumari Bank by six runs. An eight-ball 16 not out from Chiran Thapa lifted Sipradi to 62-3 and Kumari replied with 56-4. Sipradi then overcame NMB Bank by four wickets.
Barun Ghimire (29) and Khum Bahadur Thapa (23) took NMB to 66-1. Sipradi then scored 67-2 in 4.1 overs with Dipesh Shrestha scoring 11-ball 23. In another match, Sunrise Bank routed Tiger Beer by six wickets. Tiger made 49-4 and Sunrise replied with 53 without loss in 2.4 overs. Srijan Subedi struck 31 off seven balls for Sunrise.
Defending champion Civil Bank crashed to a stunning 24-run defeat at the hands of Century Bank in Group ‘C’. Diwesh Dangol’s unbeaten 34 of 16 balls led Century to 67 without loss. Civil could only manage 43-2. Bhola Bahadur Bista made a 14-ball 25 not out for Civil for the holder.
