Corporate Super Sixes: Sunrise, Century set last-eight tie

Sunrise Bank and Century Bank both won on Wednesday to set the quarter-final showdown at the Corporate Super Sixes cricket tournament at the Tribhuvan University Stadium.
Sunrise eased to a six-wicket win over Nabil Bank while Century hammered Annapurna Media by five wickets in their pre-quarter-final matches. In the first pre-quarterfinal match, Nabil Bank posted a lowly 45-4 with Amit Pokharel chipping in 16 runs to the total. Sunrise cantered to victory in just 2.2 overs without losing any wicket. Kedar Singh top scored with an unbeaten 21 off seven deliveries while Krishna Madal chipped in nine.
In the another pre-quarterfinal match, Annapurna scored 57-5 in five overs with Basant Khatri scoring almost all the team’s run alone. Khatri scored 46 off 21 balls with eight fours and a six. Suraj Timilsina led the Century Bank’s run chase, scoring an unbeaten 36 off 16 balls with three sixes and as many fours.
Nepal Telecom also advanced to the quarter-finals with a 12-run win over Surya Nepal. Nepal Telecom scored what appeared a modest 66-1 in five overs but defended the total by restricting Surya Nepal to 54-1. Hari Krishna Sharma top scored for Telecom with 20-ball 29 while Rajendra Joshi made unbeaten 24 for Surya Nepal. Nepal Telecom will take on the winners of Thursday’s match between Subisu and Civil Bank.
Other pre-quarter-final matches on Thursday pits Sipradi Trading against Mega Bank, Nepal SBI Bank against NMB Bank, ICFC Finance against Embassy of India, and NIC Asia Bank against Janata Bank.
Earlier, Embassy of India secured passage to the pre-quarterfinals by defeating Nepal Life Insurance by four wickets in Group ‘H’. Nepal Life posted 59-2 but Indian Embassy replied with 63-2 in 3.5 overs. Rajesh Kumar top scored for the Embassy with an unbeaten 33 runs. The Embassy advanced as group runner-up to NIC Asia.
Nepal Telecom topped Group ‘B’ with 14-run win over Tiger Brewery. The Telecom amassed 78-1 with Bikash Yadav making 34 not out. Tiger Brewery could only muster 64-1 in reply. Aditya Malla’s unbeaten 32 went in-vain for Tiger. In other league matches before the tournament entered the knockout stage, Century beat Civil Bank by 13 runs, IME Group defeated Nepal SBI Bank by five wickets, ICFC hammered NCC Bank by 55 runs, and Subisu eased to a five-wicket win over Annapurna Media.
