Banskota says 600 public schools to go digital soon

Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Banskota on Saturday said around public schools would soon go digital.
The minister revealed this at after inaugurating the newly-constructed building of Shree Ram Secondary School in Panchkhal Municipality in the district on Saturday.
Stressing on the importance of making public schools digitalised, the minister said around 600 community schools would go digital by May 2019. Three schools from each electoral constituency would go digital in six provinces while six schools each in the constituencies of Province-2, Banskota said.
He further said high-speed wi-fi network would be introduced in such schools. It would help integrate digital skills to the curriculum that would provide opportunities for students to benefit from Information and Communications Technology (ICT) course and digital skills.
Newly introduced technology will help students to promote safe and responsible use of the internet and social media, he said. The programme will start from Karnali province.
Donation from Diga Foundation of Switzerland helped build the school building costing Rs 10 million.
