The second Baahrakhari Corporate Golf tournament tees off at the par-72 Gokarna Golf Course on December 15.
Around 100 amateur golfers, mostly invitees from corporate houses, will rub their shoulders for the top honour, organisers Baahrakhari Media informed in a press briefing on Sunday. The tournament will be played over 18 holes on stableford 3/4 handicap format, informed the professional golfer and Gokarna Club’s senior golf director Deepak Acharya.
The overall champion will receive a gold-plated golf ball while a golfer to complete a hole-in-one will ride home with a four-wheeler. Apart from the men’s category, the tournament also include categories for ladies and senior (above 60-years) golfers. Other prizes on offer include gross winner, nett winner, most birdies, longest drive and closest-to-the-pin.
Nepal PGA president Rabindra Man Shrestha hailed the initiative of a media house to promote golf. “The tournament is in its second year and it has already succeeded in creating a buzz in corporate fraternity. It will definitely help in the development of the game,” said Ghimire.
Gokarna Golf Club president Suhrid Ghimire called for media as well as the concerned sports authorities to promote golf tourism in the country. “Nepal is the best in terms of climate. We can play golf here almost round the year which in not possible in so many countries,” said Ghimire.
