Tarakeshwar cares for elderly

Tarakeshwar municipality has started a door-to-door health checkup programme targeting people above 80 years in the municipality.

Municipality’s Chief Administrative Officer Hiramani Subedi said, “Elderly people above 80 years who cannot visit health centres would receive health checkup at home.”

Nine wards of the municipality have launched the programme. This will soon expand to the remaining wards as well, he said.

A medical team will oversee the door-to-door health checkup programme under the leadership of the chief of the local health post.

Medical equipment and medicines have been procured for every ward, Subedi said  The municipality has set up four urban health centres.
