Province 3 Chief Minister Dormani Poudel has said the name of the provincial capital of his province will be announced next year only.

At a programme organised by the Reporters’ Club Nepal here on Wednesday, CM Poudel said that the province’s capital will be named only after a year, as this year’s focus will be on preparing the physical infrastructure for the new provincial capital. He added that the name of Province 3 will be determined by mid-January next year.

According to him, the provincial government has already put in place all structures and mechanisms necessary in all the 13 districts in the Province. The Division Offices have been set up too.

“But we did not have laws. There was no way we could move ahead in the absence of laws, so we prioritised formulating laws initially. We have formulated 25-26 laws,” Poudel said, expressing confidence that now nothing will prevent his government from delivering its promises.

The CM said that the provincial government has been demanding the central government focus on the formulation of the laws, prioritising basic rights, as soon as possible. He expressed his views that the central government should formulate laws on Province Police Act and Land Act among others.

According to him, the CMs of all seven provinces had shared their common issues with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in the recently held meeting of the inter-province council at Kathmandu.
