Various parts of the country are likely to witness weather disturbance resulting in overcast condition for the next few days, according to Meteorological Forecasting Division.
The weather may remain partly to generally cloudy in the western region. Eastern and central hilly region will be partly cloudy, the weather bureau’s bulletin said.
The sudden change in weather has been because of the westerly disturbance that
has entered through the western part of the country. “The impact of the westerly disturbance is significant in mostly western Nepal
which will experience completely cloudy weather,” an official from the meteorological division said. Weather disturbances will have less effect on the central hilly areas and eastern parts of the country.
Various places in the country including the Kathmandu Valley have seen drop in temperature following the overcast condition. The Division, on Wednesday, recorded 3.8 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature in the valley, the lowest of the year.
The westerly disturbance will also trigger rainfall, but only at one or two places in the western hilly part of the Nepal, the Division has forecast. “Isolated brief rain is likely at one or two places of the western hilly region. In other parts, there might be only traces of rainfall,” the official said.
The cloudy condition is likely to start snowfall at a few places in the upper Himalayan region.
The annual phenomenon of cold wave, mostly recorded in southern plains districts, has not yet started. There was partially fog recorded in a few places in the western
Nepal. It was isolated fog and was concentrated mainly in western places, the Division said.
Normally, the cold wave start mid-December and last up to February. The cold wave can last for few days up to a month according to the Division. The cold wave had lasted for nearly a month in 1998 and 2002.
