Reconstruction of quake-hit temple starts in Takamkot

The reconstruction of the Jagannath-Annapurna temple in Takamkot, Myagdi, has begun. The historic temple, which has religious and touristic significance, was damaged in the 2015 Earthquake.

Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Thamamaya Thapa laid the foundation stone of the temple amidst a ceremony on Friday.

The reconstruction works began with the financial aid from the government bodies and the community, said Kalanidhi Subedi, the ward chair of Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality-7.

At the event, minister Bhupendra Bahadur Thapa pledged for budget allocation to finish the construction work that is estimated to cost around Rs eight million.

The inner structure and design will be kept unchanged during the renovation, said Municipality Vice Chair Resham Chhantyal.
