Nepal Academy gets full shape

With the appointment of vice-chancellor, member-secretary and academicians, the Nepal Academy has finally got a full shape.

Newly-appointed academician Shashi Lumumbu said that the Prime Minister and Chief Patron of the Academy KP Sharma Oli appointed 35 members based on the recommendation committee led by Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Prasad Adhikari. Those 35 academicians include 11 in academy council and 24 in academy assembly member.

Dr Jagaman Gurung was appointed the Vice Chancellor while Prof Dinesh Raj Panta, Prof Dr Yogendra Prasad Yadav, Dr Hemnath Poudel, Prof Dr Usha Thakur, Maya Thakuri, Prof Gopindra Poudel, Laxmi Mali and Dr Devi Nepal are the Members of Academy Council.

Likewise, Lumumbu, Hari Prasad Timilsina, Ram Kumar Shrestha, Prof Dr Khem Koirala Bandhu, RD Pravash Chataut, Bibash Pokharel, Dhruba Madhikarmi, Rama Sharma, Ram Babu Subedi and Dr Rajani Dhakal are appointed as the Members of the Academy Assembly.

Furthermore, Dr Gita Tripathi, Laxmi Upreti, Maheshwor Raya, Dr Bina Sinha, Harishchandra Lawati, Govinda Acharya, Subhadra Bhattarai, Dr Haridutta Pandey, Dr Bijaya Kumar Datta, Surya Khadka Bikharchi, Prof Dr Kapil Lamichhane, Prof Dr Gopal Pokharel, Prof Keshav Subedi and Nandu Prasad Upreti are appointed as the Members of the Academy Assembly.

Chancellor of the Academy Ganga Prasad Upreti administered oath of office to the newly appointed academicians on Monday in the presence of Minister Adhikari.

On the occasion, Minister Adhikari said that the academicians should play role for the protection and promotion of different languages and cultures of all ethnic communities through literary and academic activities.
