Dr KC threatens to go on hunger strike from January 1

Dec 27, 2018-

Senior orthopaedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC has warned of staging another hunger strike from January 1 if his demands are not met.

Those people who are against the reforms in the country’s medical education sector were once again manoeuvrings against the Medical Education Bill, the anti-corruption crusader said.

Dr KC also said that every government that signed deals with him to make him end his previous hunger strikes had tried to blackmail him to fulfil the vested interests

of agents and mafias while disregarding the welfare of the citizens.

“The government has been working against the people and students by violating the agreements instead of showing honouring the past agreements,” he added.

Drawing the government’s attention towards the recent development regarding the Medical Education Bill, Dr KC said the recommendations made by the Kedar Bhakta Mathema-led task force had not been implemented in the bill.

He accused the senior government ministers and politicians of colluding with “medical mafias” to subvert the bill. “It is unfortunate that party and people’s representatives are trying to fulfil the vested interests of mafia by altering the agreement signed with us,” said Dr KC, adding, “We will not tolerate such manoeuvrings.”

Dr KC said there will be no progress in the medical education sector until private medical colleges are brought under the government’s jurisdiction.
