The Karnali Province government has announced that it would provide a relief of Rs 43.5 million to the victims of fire at Palata Rural Municipality of Kalikot district. A massive fire at Neupanebada of Palata on December 23 had destroyed the houses of 87 families.
Minister of land management, agriculture and cooperatives of the province Bimala KC said a meeting of the province council of ministers on Friday decided to provide Rs 500 thousand to each family displaced by the fire.She said the province government has already provided Rs 20 thousand and other relief assistance to each family.
“The Council of Ministers’ meeting has also decided to implement the fire victim rehabilitation programme and provide technical assistance and a model sketch for the reconstruction of houses,” KC said.
Likewise, the provincial cabinet meeting expressed its gratitude towards the federal government, local government, political parties, non-governmental organisations and individual donors who helped rescue the victims and arranged for temporary shelters, food, clothes and logistics support.
The province government has also appealed to the governmental and non-governmental organisations and individuals willing to help rehabilitate the 87 displaced families to coordinate with the province government.
