After the Ministry of Social Development allocated budget for the current fiscal year, the provincial government of Gandaki has decided to construct one ground at every local unit.
The ministry has also designed work procedure to distribute capital grant to every local unit which has already been endorsed. The province has 11 districts and 85 local units. The ministry has allocated Rs 18.5 million which will be used in building base for ground at each local unit for the current fiscal year. The ministry has also asked for proposal from respective units.
According to sports department chief Tej Prasad Kafle of the ministry, some local units have already forward their proposals, while a few others have contacted the ministry for further procedure. “There are some units which might not have availability of the ground and few might not have ground at all due to geographical difficulties. We will go through thorough studies at the initial stage before releasing the budget,” said Kafle.
As the current fiscal year is nearing the end of the second quarter and completion of the ground is not possible this year, the ministry is planning to give it a start and give continuity to it the next year. The proposal will be selected and approved by a coordination committee formed under sports department’s under secretary.
