Three children die in fire
Three children were charred to death when an animal shed belonging to Yam Bahadur Khatri caught fire at Tarakhola Rural Municipality-4 in Baglung on Tuesday. According to locals, the children were inside the shed, warming themselves around a bonfire, when it caught fire. Villagers reached the site after they saw the flame, but it was too late to rescue the victims.
Likewise, properties worth Rs 1.2 million were gutted in two separate incidents of fire in Jhapa district.
Mahendra Kumar Shrestha, spokesperson for the District Police Office, said a fire broke out at the house of Balaram Murmu in Jhapa Rural Municiplaity-6, damaging properties worth Rs 300,000. In another incident of fire, properties worth Rs 900,000, belonging to Rajkumar Majhi, were damaged at Mechinagar-4 in Pathibhara Tole.
