Prince Dahal, Rukesh Maharjan, Praful Maharjan and Sunil Joshi entered the semi-finals of the International Invitational Open Badminton Tournament here on Monday.
Dahal beat Gautam Kathayat of Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club 23-21, 21-13 and Rukesh of Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) overcame Bishnu Katuwal of Nepal Police Club (NPC) 21-14, 11-21, 21-16. Another TAC player Praful beat Bijeet Thapa Magar of APF 21-15, 15-21, 22-20 and Joshi of APF defeated Jivan Acharya of NPC 21-14, 17-21, 21-14.
APF pair of Dipesh Dhami and Thapa Magar reached the men’s double semi-final beating Prakash Rai and Suden Rai of Damak 21-13, 21-14. Praful and Rukesh also made it through seeing off Sujan Shrestha and Pranish Singh Thakuri 21-13, 21-11. Kathayat and Joshi ousted NPC pair of Katuwal and Acharya 12-21, 21-18, 22-20, while TAC duo Ratnajit Tamang and Nabin Shrestha eased to a 21-14, 21-17 victory over Surya Shrestha and Rabin Sauden.
Nepal No 1 singles player Tamang also made it to the mixed doubles last four along with Dhami, Kathayat and Thapa Magar. Tamang combined with Anu Maya Rai to outlast Thakuri and Neeta Lamsal 21-10, 21-13, while Dhami and Pooja Shrestha defeated Sujan Shrestha and Sima Rajbanshi 21-15, 21-12. Kathayat paired with Sunaina Mukhiya to sideline Nabin Shrestha and Amita Giri 21-12, 21-18 with Thapa Magar and Shova Gauchan beating Surya Shrestha and Dhan Maya Limbu 21-14, 21-13.
