Jan 17, 2019-
Province 7 lost their last league match to Supaul of India by one wicket but still made it to the semi-finals of the Manmohan Memorial Cup One Day National cricket tournament on net-run rate on Wednesday.
In a three-team pool, Province 7 made it through at the expense of Province 5 and the foreign invitee with a run-rate of 0.74. A 118-run victory over Province 5 had already put Province 7 on the edge. Supaul’s run-rate was 0.38 and Province 5 had minus 0.97. Province 5 had beaten Supaul by 24 runs in the group opener on Monday.
Province 7 will now take on Nepal Police Club on Thursday and Province 1 will be up against Tribhuvan Army Club in the other semi-final match on Friday.
Province 7 rode on a half century from skipper Bipin Rawal before getting skittled out for 184 in 42 overs. Supaul in reply reached the target in the 38th over for the loss of nine wickets but their effort went in vain. Saurav Gill top scored for Supaul with 43 runs and Ajay Singh made 28 runs. Sher Malla was the pick of the Province 7 bowlers taking 4-43 from 10 overs.
Earlier, Rawal pushed his side to a respectable total hitting a 54-ball 53 with five boundaries and a six. Roshan Adhikari (25), Lokesh Bam (22) and Malla (11) were others to reach double figures. Man-of-the-match Bishwajit gave an allround display taking four wickets for Supaul.
