Nepal No 1 Shivaram Shrestha and Bhuwan Nagarkoti set the title clash at the Surya Nepal NPGA Match Play at the par-68 Royal Nepal Golf Club (RNGC) on Tuesday.
The top-ranked pro Shrestha defeated fifth-ranked Rame Magar 6&5 in the semi-final match, while second-ranked Nagarkoti beat No 14-ranked Dinesh Prajapati 2&1. The final will be played over 36 holes on Wednesday, while the third place match between Rame and Dinesh will be played over 18 holes on the same day.
Shrestha was a 4&3 winner over ninth-ranked Deepak Thapa Magar, while Rame saw off fourth-ranked Jaya Ram Shrestha 3&2 in the quarter-finals earlier in the day. In other quarter-final match ups, Dinesh Prajapati dispatched 11th-ranked Bhuwan Kumar Rokka 3&1 and Nagarkoti got the better of 10th-ranked Bal Bhadra Rai 3&2.
In all top 16 professional golfers took part in the fourth event under the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2018-19. The tournament offers Rs 250,000 in total prize money with the top four pros set to receive Rs 70,000, Rs 40,000, Rs 28,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively. The losing quarter-finalists will get Rs 11,000 each while the first-round losers will receive Rs 6,000 each. Nepal Professional Golfers Association is organising the tournament which is part of Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2018-19.
