The National Human Rights Commission has urged all sides concerned to resolve the tussle between the government and Dr Govinda KC through negotiation and dialogue.

“The agreements reached by the government in the past in relation to medical education should be seriously considered and a solution sought through dialogue and talks,” reads a statement issued by NHRC Secretary Bed Bhattarai.

A team from the Commission took note of Dr KC’s health condition at TU Teaching Hospital and found his health is deteriorating. The Commission has hence drawn the government’s attention to protect the doctor’s life.

Dr KC has been staging a fast-unto-death for the past 14 days demanding enforcement of the agreement reached between him and the government on issues related to reforms in the medical education sector. This is his 16th hunger strike.
