Karnali chief minister demands results from province secretaries

Karnali Province Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi has instructed the provincial secretaries to implement the budget, plans and programmes with the objective of achieving tangible results.
Speaking at a meeting attended by Chief Secretary Ram Prasad Thapaliya and the secretaries from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law, the Ministry of Social Development, the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forests and Environment, and the Ministry of Infrastructure Development in Surkhet
on Wednesday, Shahi urged them all to fulfil their responsibilities so as to bring results.
He told the secretaries that snail-paced works was not going to cut it for achieving development in the province. The provincial secretaries should focus on effective mobilisation of development budget and staff, the chief minister added.
Shahi also directed the secretaries to submit the details of their plans to address the policy-level problems to the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers within three days.
The secretaries from six ministries presented the progress reports of their respective ministries at the meeting. In their reports, they have mentioned that lack of human resources, problems related to the legal framework and geographical remoteness are major hurdles in project implementation.
