Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) and Province No 3 registered contrasting victories on Wednesday to complete the semi-final lineup of the Sahana Pradhan Memorial Women’s National Hockey Tournament here on Wednesday. 

The Army outfits recorded a convincing 5-0 victory over Province 7 to advance as the Group ‘A’ winners ahead of the Province 7. Both the teams had already confirmed their semi-finals passage from the three-team group after winning their first match against Province 1. The one-sided affair saw Sarita Meche of the departmental team struck twice after an 18th minute goal from Sita Maya Bal. Meche doubled the advantage in the 27th before making the scores 3-0 in the 45th minute. Sita Kumari Chaudhary added another in the 52nd before Manju Bista sealed the victory in the 55th minute. 

In another match, Province 3 recorded a 2-1 victory over Province 4 to top the Group ‘B.’ Province 4 finished runners-up in the group. Anita Shrestha struck both the goals for Province 3. She opened scoring in the ninth minute before doubling their advantage in the 22nd minute. Sonu Baral cut the deficit with a goal in the 26th but that was as close as they could get in the match. 

The Army team will take on Province 4 and Province 3 will lock horns against Province 7 in the semi-finals on Thursday. Five province teams  and the departmental giants are competing in the league-cum-knockout tournament organised by the Nepal Hockey Association. The title showdown will be played on Friday.
