Through the eyes of our cartoonist
Jan 29, 2019-
The journey of Dr Govinda KCDr Govinda KC is currently on his 16th hunger strike, demanding reforms in the country’s medical education sector. All his previous fast-unto-death protests—the first one of which took place in July 2013—have ended with the government promising to fulfill his demands, only to later renege on its commitments. Every time the government broke its promise, KC responded with his satyagraha. As KC’s non-violent resistance continues, the Post’s Abin Shrestha has compiled the cartoons that he has sketched over the years on the doctor’s protests, the government’s attitude, and what KC has described as ‘mafia influence’ in the medical education sector. They are as germane today as they were when published over the course of the last six years.
