KMC to implement local curriculum

Kathmandu

Feb 5, 2019-

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is set to intensify the enforcement of the local curriculum from the upcoming academic session.

All public community and institutional schools are required to follow the directives enforced by the KMC. The new local curriculum includes five subjects including Nepal Bhasa, Sustainable Development, Environment Education, Traffic Management, Culture of Kathmandu and Ancient Language.

KMC’s move follows the handing over of authority of overall school management to the concerned local levels under the government switched to a federal setup. The new curriculum has been designed because courses that are centre-based do not accommodate concerns of various aspects of local level, said Sitaram Koirala, chief of education department at the KMC.

Of the five subjects, schools are required to select one. (RSS)
