Those childhood days

- DEV SINGH MALI

Feb 13, 2019-

Sleeping late in the morning till the sun shines

Usually mom knocked on the door of mine

Tea, chapati, and food came in my bed

No responsibility on my head

Went to the school every day with mates

Played games till late, even past sunset

Built a fan made of leaves

Rode the paper ships

Flew airplanes made of papers

Drove the vehicles made of slippers

Visited new places during school vacation

Went to my uncle’s without any occasion

Spent night with granny and her folklores

Her warm embrace was indenting cure

Spent winter nights by firing the wood,

Burning the potatoes and eating the food

Sometimes we ate food together in one plate

Drew each other’s funny pictures on the slate

Missing gundruk and dhindo made by mother

Missing dolls and chocolates brought by father

I appreciate each moment I grew up in the wild

If possible, again I want to be a child

Mali is a master’s student at Tribhuvan University
