You and I

- Bibhuti Shah

Feb 13, 2019-

You were a free falling feather

Swaying in the September breeze

Which I had watched from a distance,

Smiling,

Knowing that I couldn’t catch

I am just a random caveman

Caged comfortably in Plato’s cave

Who never realised that you knew

Of the outer world

All the while

Even when you were here with me

So darling,

Tell me, what do you want to become?

A poetry?

Or a painting?

But I can do neither

Instead, I can stand back

And appreciate your grace

Bury me

Below the see-saw

You’d left me while I was sitting there

Because all I am is the sweet remains

Of the brilliant betrayal

Shah is grade 11 student at St Xavier’s College
