The summit focused on different agendas including investment and job opportunities, developing the entrepreneurial ecosystem, bridging the gap between idea and funding and journey to success.
Matrika Prasad Yadav, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, said that the government’s key agenda is economic prosperity. He said that Nepal needs to focus on strengthening domestic products.
Hari Bhakta Sharma, president of Confederation of Nepalese Industries, said that Nepal has very few employment generating activities and low industrial production among South Asian countries. “We [private sector] want to work on different sectors with the government to generate jobs,” he said.
As Nepal’s trade deficit has been ballooning, we should think on increasing domestic production. “Entrepreneurship is one of the key conditions for unlocking economic growth,” said Sharma.
The government has been working on the certain areas to improve foreign investment environment, he said.
