Little secret
I dug a hole inside my heartsearching for places to hide it rightinstead, I wrote a poem on a paper planeand watched it fly down the memory laneAsmita Manandhar
While you drove to nowhere
on that dim lit motorway
I cut loose some gravity
and kept the world at bay
threw my hands in the air
and the let the wind blow my hair
when the night was ripe
and we were as crazy as we could get
you whispered in my ears,
“it is our little secret”
I dug a hole inside my heart
searching for places to hide it right
instead, I wrote a poem on a paper plane
and watched it fly down the memory lane
When boundaries felt limitless
and our hearts is in a mess
when the time seemed harsh
and love—too sparse
together, we flew like kites
for endless days and sleepless nights
living by the mistakes, living on the moments
no thoughts of reality, no place for amends
But as the moments grew intense
the secrets too, were getting dense
even the paper planes couldn’t hold them long
flying to territories they don’t belong
So when I took that flight
to stay out of your sight
I cut loose some strings
and quickly bled without a fight
watched the world come closer
like an alcoholic getting sober
when I held myself together
before I take a step back and regret
I whispered to myself,
“I was just a little secret”
