The annual general meeting of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) central committee has started in Pokhara. Speaker of the House of Representatives Krishna Bahadur Mahara inaugurated the two-day meeting on Thursday. The meeting is scheduled to amend the FNJ’s statute for electing the leadership at the centre, provinces and districts directly. “We hope the amendment proposal will be endorsed. This will lead to the FNJ’s restructuring,” said central member Ramkrishna Gyawali. FNJ central chairman Govinda Acharya said the meeting would also discuss various issues including press freedom, rights and welfare of journalists. (PR)
