Westerlies cause rain and snow across the country

Most parts of the country today saw rain and snowfall due to the influence of the westerly winds. The winds made an entry into the country on Sunday, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division.

Meteorologist Ganga Nagarkoti said that most places of the country were witnessing cloudy conditions and rainfall due to the influence of the westerly winds that has consistently entered the country this year. Rainfall took place in hilly districts like Baitadi, Bajhang, Doti, Bajura and Darchula, while snow occured in the high mountainous areas today.

The Division said there has been more than average winter rainfall this year.

For Thursday, the Division has forecasted generally cloudy sky with the occurrence of light snowfall in the high mountainous areas in the eastern and central parts of the country.

The weather will be partly cloudy in the hilly region and fair in the rest of the country on Friday. As per the latest temperature recorded by the Division, Kathmandu recorded a minimum temperature of 8.6 degrees Celsius and maximum temperature of 22.5 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
