Mar 3, 2019-

Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is incredibly “humbled” to be the next comic book superhero.

Speaking to TMZ, the congresswoman expressed her joy at comic book company Devil’s Due working on a book titled Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Freshman Force: New Party, Who Dis?.

“It’s an honor people would put so much of their time and talent into that all on their own,” she said. “I’m especially honored that they’re donating the proceeds to RAICES Texas [a non-profit that provides legal services to immigrants and refugees] for immigration and civil rights protections. So that part of the project, if it can benefit communities that need it, is really amazing.”

Of being depicted as a superhero, she added, “It’s incredibly humbling... If I can be that for a little girl somewhere where she can see herself being a superhero, I think that’s important for us to see we all have a superhero inside of us.

Founder of Devil’s Due Josh Baylock initially announced the comic last Friday.

I have a really, really nice, sweet one that’s just like a pleasant commentary on just being excited about things. There are some completely absurd, irreverent ones that are really like just cathartic venting about, you know, the current climate that we’re living in,” Blaylock told ABC. “Some are more just like a narrative, educational overview.

The artist/author also revealed that it was Ocasio-Cortez quoting Alan Moore that inspired him to set things in motion. We don’t blame him, her crediting Moore and not Rorschach is something to applaud. Also, did you know she plays League of Legends? Moving on.

“That took off like wildfire in the comic book world and on comic book social media and I knew that now the clock was ticking. If we didn’t move foSrward with this right away somebody else was going to beat us to the punch,” he added.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Freshman Force: New Party, Who Dis? will be out in May while pre-orders are open.
