120 cases of violence against women recorded in a month

As many as 120 cases of violence against women were recorded in various parts of the country from mid-January to mid-February, according to the Women’s Rehabilitation Centre.

A report by the centre shows that 35 cases of physical violence, 28 cases of rape, 17 of mental abuse, 11 of deprivation from modern amenities, and nine of murder were recorded during that period.

Similarly, six cases of sexual misconduct and attempt of rape, and eight of other forms of violence were reported during the month.

Most of the victims belonged to 17-25 age group, according to the press statement released by the centre on Monday.

Around 35 percent of the victims had suffered from spousal abuse. Likewise, 4 percent of the victims were abused by their teachers and 12 percent by strangers.
