Abducted lawmaker released after four hours

Sudurpaschim Province Assembly lawmaker Devaki Malla, who was abducted on Friday by the cadres of the Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal, was released after four hours from Bagadipauta in Kedarsyu Rural Municipality-5, Bajhang.

A group of around 35 people had abducted lawmaker Malla from Sainsu of Kedarsyu Rural Municipality while she was on her way to a programme In the wake of Malla’s kidnapping, the district leader of the Chand outfit had said that they she abducted as a retaliation against the arrest of Bindu Chand, the chairperson of Akhil Nepal Mahila Sangh Krantikari, the sister organisation of the Chand outfit, in Achham two days ago.

It was also a response to police interference at a programme held by the party in Deura of Bajhang on Thursday, he added.
