THINI: A solar power project operated at Lomanthang in Upper Mustang has closed down. The plant with the capacity of generating 70 kilowatt electricity came to a halt after its battery failed to charge due to snowfall and cold. Ram Bahadur Gurung, a local, said the entire village has plunged into darkness following the shutdown of the station. The Chinese government had instaled the plant at the cost of Rs 10 million four years ago. “The locals are facing difficulties due to the plant’s shutdown”, said Gurung. (RSS)
