The Maldives national anthem could not be played through the speakers at the tournament venue in Shahid Rangashala during their match against India. According to ANFA, the problem arose due to slow internet connection at the ground. The organisers had downloaded the national anthem earlier but it also could not be played due to technical issues. Instead, a microphone was placed in front of Maldives players who had lined up for the national anthem. The FIFA anthem and India’s national anthem were played through loud speakers.
On Tuesday, Bhutan head coach Sung Jae Lee had vented ire at the organisers after his team had to waste time looking for appropriate hotel on the eve of the tournament. Lee said his team couldn’t get chance to warm-up at the ground after his team had to waste nine hours searching for a proper hotel on Monday. Bhutan had lost to Nepal 3-0. (PR)
