Bird flu detected in Hetauda

The H5N1 influenza virus, commonly known as bird flu, has been detected in Hetauda Sub metropolis-7 in Makwanpur district. Chief District Officer Asman Tamang said sale of poultry products had been temporarily prohibited in the affected areas after the detection. A technician team has also been deployed in the affected areas to contain the spread of virus. More than 15,000 chickens in various poultry farms had died in February, raising bird flu scare among the people. (PR)
